New pages, these.

A lazy walk
Hand in hand
Along
A picturesque harbor

I take in your scent
As you take in the view
And
Throw me a careless smile

A toast
To new love
I realize
To new promises

You talk of eternity
But
I have learnt not to
Trust the whole book

I have learnt
It is wise to be
Almost afraid
Of new pages

But
With you I know there
might be
A next chapter

It's just that I am afraid to turn the page.

One kiss less.

This is the story of once upon a time
When I was crazy about you
And you were in love with me.

When we believed
In the faith of our dreams
And stories of going the distance.

And then I saw from afar
That the distance you could go
Was just on a road never taken with me

I imagine how you smell now,
And even through the distance
I know your smell's changed.

Today I have dreamed and imagined.
And indulged in the audacity of hope.
And the thing with knowledge is
You just can't settle for less.

For I have seen too much
To ever be satisfied
With the us I had left behind.

Nameless, song-less
We are just shells of a wonderful past.
Dusty trophies of love and other wonders
Way past their sell-by dates.

TheMiddleFingerDiaries

Because you simply can't be 25 and not have a wannabe-ish cool sort of diary series as inevitable proof that you are going through a quarter-life crisis!

5 laws of life:

1) You never question that Murphy guy. Never. He gave us the supremestesque laws this universe will ever have.
2) When writing a law, you are allowed to tweak all the rules of grammar and make words up(see 1).
It'll annoy the puritans of language.
3) Always annoy the puritans.
4) When you are happy and you know it, have a chocolate. When you are sad and you don't feel like it - have a chocolate. That way you know happiness and sorrow are temporary - chocolate on the other hand is forever.
5) Stay annoyed. Happy is for clowns, sad is for losers.
6) Vanilla-flavored Vodka is the best anti-dote for all life's fuck-ups. Try it. Believe in it and worship it!

One Broken Toe.

I write to our memory
Our artifice of perfection,
To our sandcastles
That were only as strong as the
Waves that ignored them.

Come high tide and one full moon
You moved away as fast as you could
And we smiled our old smile
To keep up the pretense
Of picture-perfect.

It took me just one million heartbreaks
To realise that
I was only two Jack Daniels
And one bar of chocolate
Away from true happiness.

So when I feel
The onset of another heartache
And think I may never walk again
Know that
The pain's actually in my foot
And you are but one broken toe.

I'll take your false band-aids
And strap them around my heart
And we'll stay like you'd promised
Arm-in-arm, mirrors of each other's lies,
Happily ever after.

Belief.

As the  first shade of orange
Lines the sky
The graffiti of black tress
Against the backdrop
Of an unwillingly white expanse of sky
Sprout the first sinuation
Of green in rebellion
Signifying the onset of a chaos
Much welcome.

I walk into another season
Literally, figuratively
Battered, cold
Taller nonetheless
And ready for the warmth
This time around
I hope.

Today, faith is a miracle.

habit

once upon a time

of giggles and heartbreak
of gossip and hours of non-stop laughter
of the need for each other
of bestfriend-ship
no syntax no semantics

now

of continuous strain and repair
and then some more
of the irreparable
and the constant need for all that was
no periods no commas

just several long uncomfortable pauses
just a constant tug of war across a bridge that has been long burnt

The Cliche of the Phoenix.

The lights and the brightness
And another hundred dreams in the making,
It is within these four walls
That I shall sacrifice myself
To the eternal mysticity
Of the ever-elusive unknown
And in that sacrifice
I wish to die
And be born again
If only one time more.

It is not in every new day
That I will have my chance
For my best option hides
In the rendezvous
Twixt night and day
The disjuncture
Between today and tomorrow.
